Despite Nigeria seizing an early lead in the 23rd minute courtesy of an unexpected error from Ghana goalkeeper Afi Amenyeku, the Black Princesses demonstrated unwavering resilience. Tracy Twum leveled the scoreline in the 78th minute, setting the stage for a nail-biting finish. It was Mukarama Abdulai who emerged as the ultimate hero, striking the winning goal in extra time, securing Ghana’s coveted gold medal.
The journey to victory wasn’t devoid of challenges. Amidst initial struggles in the competition, the Black Princesses encountered criticism from fans. However, Mukarama Abdulai emerged as a beacon of hope for her team during the knockout stages.
