01. Promotion of gas infrastructure Food and Agriculture / Small request Berlin:
(hib / FNO) The subsidies of the Combined Heat and Power Act (KWKG) represent the largest promotion of gas infrastructure in Germany.
This is based on a response from the Federal Government (19/21087) to a small request from the Alliance 90 / Die faction Greens (19/20341)
The CHP plants, which are mainly operated with gas, received a surcharge in cents per kilowatt hour produced, whereby the subsidies were capped at 1.8 billion euros per year. In addition, the Federal Government is funding pipelines for bio natural gas with a minimum length of 300 meters to processing plants.
In the past three years there have been 27 corresponding applications with a total loan volume of EUR 12.4 million. The Federal Government is not aware of any indirect support measures such as tax breaks.
In the area of energy-efficient construction, there has been funding for gas hybrid systems since January 1, 2020, which would have a minimum share of 25 percent renewable energies, the answer goes on.
The program replaced the promotion of particularly efficient gas condensing boilers. The installation of fuel cell heating is also subsidized by the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). Funding for “hydrogen readiness” plants under the KWKG is currently being examined.
