Many customers expect prices to fall immediately this Wednesday

Berlin
From Wednesday, June 1st, 2022, taxes on fuel will fall sharply, but drivers could be disappointed by the fuel prices. The tax cut is valid for three months and is intended to relieve motorists in view of the very high petrol and diesel prices.
There will probably be long queues in front of the petrol stations, but Aral expects “higher demand, but no “run”.
The tax burden on fuel is to be reduced by 35.2 cents per liter for premium petrol and 16.7 cents per liter for diesel including VAT for three months from Wednesday until the end of August.
Gas station operators and mineral oil companies determine how much petrol or diesel costs at the gas station because they are not obliged to pass on the tax reduction. However, it is also unlikely that a widespread full price cut will take place on Wednesday as the fuel supplied still includes the higher tax.
As a result, the Federal Ministry of Finance points out that refueling may only gradually become cheaper.
