9 euro ticket: Increased demand and overcrowded stations in regional traffic

Germany
The 9 euro ticket, introduced for travel between June 1st and August 31st is very popular. For this reason, there may be an increased utilization of trains and stations in regional traffic on busy days (e.g. public holidays). This is especially true for popular tourist destinations. There are also delays and cancellations. In addition, the 9-euro ticket is according to Deutsche Bahn not valid on all regional trains. It is therefore advisable to take a closer look at the area of validity when booking a journey via the Bahn website or App.
