The Federal Government, the federal parliament and the Council of each 16 federal states (Bundesrat) approved the 9-euro ticket. Advance sales start on Monday, May 23th, 2022.
Validity and availity of the ticket
The 9-euro ticket is valid throughout Germany for journeys in 2nd class between June 1st and August 31st, 2022. You can use it in local public transport buses, trains such as RE, RB, underground or S-Bahn, trams, in the Saarbahn to Saargemünd. However, it does not apply to long-distance buses and long-distance trains like ICE, TGV, EC, IC, FLIXBUS etc. For each calendar month, you can purchase the ticket online via bahn.de or the Deutsche Bahn Navigator app. It is also available at the counter in the train stations, at ticket machines and at regional transport companies.Validity of subscriptions and season tickets.
Some special conditions
The ticket is automatically charged for people with an annual or monthly subscription (student tickets, job tickets) and is valid across Germany for 3 months. Moreover, the subscription card or e-ticket is valid throughout Germany in connection with ID.Fortunately, you won’t require an additional ticket for subscription customers. If you pay for JobTickets yourself, direct debit is reduced by EUR 9.00. Invoice customers also receive a reduction for the subscription to EUR 9.00 per month. Further, there are no time restrictions for subscription tickets and annual tickets during the campaign period (e.g. 9 a.m. monthly subscription subscription).
There is still no nationwide regulation for semester tickets for students. The providers on site will inform later about the details of the billing. However, this should achieve a relief effect comparable to the 9-euro ticket for a period of three months.Children up to the age of 6 can ride for free. With the ticket, you can take a bicycle or a dog with you free of charge.
other important informations:
• The monthly ticket is personal and not transferable and you must complete it with your first and last name. In case of control, it is just guilty in connection with the identity papers.
• You cannot exchange or refund purchased tickets.
