Ghana Sports Chief Loses Son in Campus Tragedy

The son of Ghana’s National Sports Authority Director General, Peter Twumasi, has died suddenly on Thursday night at his university campus.

Jim Ofori Twumasi, a final year Economics student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, collapsed and died while having dinner with his friends, according to local media reports.

The cause of his death is still unknown, but the university authorities have launched an investigation to establish the facts.

The news of Jim’s death has shocked and saddened the KNUST community, where he was described as a brilliant and friendly student.

Many students and staff members have paid tribute to Jim and expressed their sympathy to the Twumasi family.

Peter Twumasi, who has been leading the National Sports Authority since 2018, is a well-known and respected figure in Ghanaian sports.

He has overseen the development and promotion of various sports disciplines in the country, as well as the hosting of major international events.

He has not yet commented on his son’s death, but sources close to him say he is devastated by the loss.
